The Washington Township Historical Society is at work developing a history of the township

Everyone is welcome at meetings of the society, held the fourth Tuesday of every month at the firehouse, at 5843 Beechwood Ave. N.E.  To check out the society’s Web site, click here.

The Washington Township Ruritan Club sponsored the writing of a township history in 1976.  According to Earl Cunningham, who wrote part of that history, "Ruritan is a civic organization whose objectives include a greater understanding between rural and urban people on the problems of each, working with those agencies which serve the community."
